How it works

How SAUL works on a case

01

It starts by telling the case

A case opens from the chat or through the guided procedure. It needs the practice area, the type of engagement, the client, the assisted party and the client's goals. When it starts from the chat, whatever has already come up in the conversation arrives filled in.

In detail
  • Main practice area and secondary areas.
  • Type of engagement: litigation, opinion, ongoing advice.
  • Client from the firm's reusable register, individual or company, who immediately becomes a party in the case.
  • The initial conversation enters the case file as its first document.

02

The documents are uploaded and the case is rebuilt

SAUL pseudonymises and analyses every document uploaded to the case, no sensitive information is sent to the model. The analysis produces the parties and their roles, the timeline with its sources, the issues of the case and an explorable map linking everything.

In detail
  • A document already uploaded is not analysed again, and one that fails stays in the queue with the reason.
  • Each document opens in two versions: the original and the pseudonymised one the model worked on.
  • Deadlines and amounts are calculated in code, not estimated by the model.
  • Each fact appears once, with all its sources.
  • If the same person appears twice, the lawyer merges the duplicates and SAUL also repairs the texts already written.
  • A deleted document goes to the bin, it is not destroyed.

03

The strategy and the plan are set

SAUL proposes a strategy with its reasons and turns it into prioritised actions. Secondary practice areas add a focused opinion in their field.

In detail
  • The strategy is based on the themes and facts of the case file.
  • The action plan distinguishes urgent, normal and low priority.
  • An outdated action can be discarded without touching filings already produced.

04

The draft filing is reviewed

Each action produces a draft filing, starting from a template. The lawyer can read it, ask SAUL to change it and finally export it to Word.

In detail
  • Missing data stays flagged as "to complete", it is not invented.
  • A long filing does not stop halfway.
  • Every previous version can be restored.
  • A discarded draft goes to the bin.

05

The agent works alongside, for the whole case

Every case has its own agent, in the chat beside every page. It knows the case file, answers citing the document behind everything it says, starts drafting and tells where a task stands.

In detail
  • The agent uses the tools of the case's practice area and no others.
  • It reads the pseudonymised documents.
  • It never deletes anything on its own, by design: it proposes, and the decision stays with the lawyer.
